Founded in 1972, Lake View Academy (LVA) is an Illinois State Board of Education-recognized high school that serves an ethnically diverse population of 20 students from all over the city and nearby suburbs. LVA is located three blocks from Wrigley Field, two blocks from the CTA Red Line and one block from Halsted Street bus. The program is supported by Lake View Presbyterian Church. Classes run September through mid-June.
Programs & Services
Communication skills, character development, and community involvement are emphasized. LVA has one computer for every two students. The school is community-oriented: participation in various all-school activities is required. Graduates must earn 20 credits and hold a part-time job for a minimum of five consecutive months.
Admissions
Students who have already tried another high school and are 17-20 years old may apply. Tuition is charged, but generous financial aid is available based on need, family income and program.
